The Cadillac STS debuted for the 2005 model year, and it marked a new era for the luxury brand. At the time, the Cadillac lineup was exclusively front-wheel drive, so the STS's rear-wheel-drive platform was big news, as was the availability of all-wheel drive. Both V6 and V8 versions of the STS were available at launch, and a high-performance STS-V model equipped with a supercharged V8 arrived for the 2006 model year. The styling of the STS was refreshed for 2008, and the STS-V was produced through 2009. Cadillac retired the STS after the 2011 model year.
