2024 Lexus TX: What We Know So Far
Lexus jumps into the big three-row SUV game with available hybrid frugality.

While by no means the first Lexus with three rows of seats, the new 2024 Lexus TX is the most passenger space-oriented model to wear the automaker's sharp styling and sculpted L badge.
Set to go on sale in late 2023, the Indiana-built Lexus TX also offers available hybrid and plug-in hybrid power.
Here's what we know so far about the newest Lexus model.

The new TX cuts a dashing profile with a sharp, razor-like front end, chunky side fender flares, and a neat ribbon of taillights that runs the width of its rear end.

It stretches upward of 203 inches between its bumpers, making it about a half-foot longer than the RX L it essentially replaces in the automaker's lineup. Standard 20- and optional 22-inch wheels fill its big wheel wells.

Inside, the TX adopts a look reminiscent of the 2024 Grand Highlander sold by Lexus parent Toyota. A three-spoke steering wheel fronts either analog instruments or an optional 12.3-inch display. Moving toward the center of the dash, you'll find a 14.0-inch touchscreen for audio and navigation, plus a handful of buttons and knobs for secondary controls.
That touchscreen can be optionally paired with a 21-speaker Mark Levinson audio system. A head-up display is on the options list, too.

The TX comes standard with three-row seating, including optional second-row captain's chairs that can be separated by an available storage bin. The second-row seats use a mechanical spring system to slide forward at the tap of a button for easier access to row three.

Behind row three, Lexus reports 20.1 cubic feet of cargo space. Fold the third row down and that grows to 57.4 cubes, and it maxes out at 97 cubic feet with the second row tumbled down. Those figures are greater than the Infiniti QX60, which tops out at a manufacturer-reported 75.4 cubic feet, and they top Lexus' own LX SUV.

The base TX 350 sends power forward or, optionally, to all four wheels via a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission shared with the smaller Lexus RX (not to mention the Toyota Highlander). Good for 275 horsepower, the base engine is estimated by Lexus to deliver 21 mpg combined.
The hybrid TX 500h versions take that turbocharged four-cylinder and add a rear-axle electric motor and a battery pack to deliver 366 hp and an estimated 24 mpg combined. The TX 500h uses a six-speed automatic transmission.

Topping the lineup, the TX 550h+ is a plug-in hybrid with 406 hp from a 3.5-liter V6 paired with a hybrid system. Thanks to its upsized battery pack, it can deliver an estimated 33 miles of electric range on a full charge, or 30 mpg combined in hybrid mode.

Both the TX 500h and TX 550h+ come only in an all-wheel-drive configuration because their electric motors provide propulsion to the rear axle. They also come with rear-axle steering that turns the back wheels in concert with the front wheels at higher speeds for improved stability, or in the opposite direction at low speeds for increased maneuverability.
