No matter where you go in the United States, from the vast ranch land of Wyoming to the chaotic streets of New York City, Americans are obviously fond of pickups. Ford quickly points out that the F-150 has long been a favorite with buyers, citing a record 46 years as the country's bestselling truck.
To keep that streak alive, the 2024 Ford F-150 highlights key advancements while staying true to the core elements that made it so successful: capability, versatility, and innovation.

What's New for the 2024 Ford F-150?
While it may not look strikingly different from the outgoing model, the 2024 Ford F-150 has undergone many changes. Beyond the mild styling update, this full-size pickup truck offers a more powerful base engine, an innovative new tailgate design, a standard Sync 4 infotainment system, and other technology features, including a head-up display and a split-screen gauge cluster.
BlueCruise 1.2 is also available, an updated version of Ford's semi-autonomous driving assistance system that now offers lane-change assist and in-lane repositioning. The automaker claims the latter helps keep the F-150 centered in its lane when, for example, wind moves the truck while being passed by a tractor-trailer on the highway.

Many Ways to Access Cargo Thanks to Updated 2024 Ford F-150 Tailgate
One of the key elements of the pickup truck, the tailgate, continues its evolution with the debut of the 2024 F-150. Ford calls it the Pro Access Tailgate, and it features a center access door that opens to a full 100-degree angle, with detents that also keep it in place at 37 and 70 degrees. Ram offers something similar with its multi-function tailgate.
According to Ford, this design provides an extra 19 inches of reach into the rear section of the bed, compared to a traditional tailgate. Users can still lower and raise the entire tailgate in the traditional way.

F-150 Payload Capacity Decreases for 2024
Regarding full-size pickup trucks, bragging rights are worth their weight in gold. Traditionally, the goal has been to deliver more capability than the competition, but Ford deviates from that path with its 2024 F-150.
This year, the maximum payload is 2,455 pounds, compared to 3,315 pounds for the 2023 model. Even with the change, Ford claims the 2024 F-150 still offers best-in-class payload capacity.

Ford Banks on the F-150 Hybrid Becoming a Hit
Ford claims the F-150 PowerBoost was the bestselling hybrid pickup through the first half of 2023 and is making moves to keep that momentum rolling. For 2024, the price of the PowerBoost hybrid V6 engine option will match that of the 3.5-liter EcoBoost turbocharged V6, which makes this fuel-saving technology more affordable for truck buyers. With that, Ford expects the PowerBoost to comprise 20 percent of total sales volume, up from 10 percent for the 2023 model.

Everyone needs a few things to be passionate about in life. For me, cars are near the top of the list. I’m constantly searching the classifieds for that bargain-priced, one-owner Datsun 240Z barn find. I’m always up for seemingly endless conversations about the cars we wish our parents had kept, the benefits of EVs versus the lure of a thumping V8, or which reliable crossover SUV best suits your family and your dogs.
